The Ultimate Guide to Turning Thanksgiving Leftovers into a Black Friday Feast
Private Event Catering / Recipes / Stories from the Kitchen
Whether you worked away in the kitchen for days leading up to Thanksgiving or took the “work smarter, not harder” approach and let Catering Concepts do the heavy lifting, chances are that there are two facts you’ll face on Thanksgiving evening:
1. You have lots of delicious leftovers!
2. You don’t want to cook anything elaborate for at least a day or two!
Luckily, we have some great recommendations for turning your Thanksgiving leftovers into a brand-new meal. While grabbing your groceries, make sure to have some of these extras on hand so you can whip up the ultimate Black Friday Feast.
The Fastest Way to Breakfast
For breakfast that can’t be beat, we recommend two awesome options: Ham Biscuits or Ham Casserole! For a Ham Biscuit, you can truly choose your difficulty. While we always prefer homemade biscuits, we won’t judge if you opt for ready-to-bake biscuits from the store. Whip up your preferred biscuits, add a slice of ham with a slathering of your favorite jam and savor a sweet and savory breakfast bite!
For a flavor-packed brunch item the whole family will rave about, try Ham Casserole, a family recipe from Catering Concepts Owner, Amy Busby. Cube up any leftover ham from your Thanksgiving feast and follow this simple recipe from Amy’s Grandmother:
Pro-tip: You can prepare this casserole and freeze it to make for an easy, tasty meal later this holiday season.
The Ultimate Leftover Sandwich
Amy’s favorite way to serve up a satisfying post-Thanksgiving meal is by assembling her Ultimate Turkey Sandwich. To whip up a truly tasty meal, you’ll need leftover turkey, sourdough bread, Havarti cheese, butter, cranberry relish and some turkey gravy.
To make this delicious sandwich Amy’s way, layer sliced Havarti cheese and turkey between two freshly sliced pieces of sourdough bread. Melt a generous pat of butter in a skillet and toast both sides of your sandwich like a grilled cheese. Once your sandwich is nice and crispy, gently open your sandwich and spread a generous serving of Cranberry Relish inside. Press your sandwich back together. Serve with a ramakin of warm turkey gravy to dip your sandwich. Enjoy!
Ready to relish this sandwich but missing the Cranberry Relish? Amy’s Thanksgiving gift to cooks everywhere is the Catering Concepts Cranberry Relish recipe.
